These are all questions that many emerging artists have, but there are very few resources to help you learn the answers.
What Kind of Music Producer do You Need?
Answering this question is complicated. If it’s your first time in a studio setting, make sure that you’re working with a producer who understands how to coach and develop your talent in-studio. If you need help with songwriting, seek out a producer who can write instrumentals and vocal harmonies for you.
Kalifornia Records senior music producer and owner, Sean Lolmaugh, can provide both of these services during your session. You can quickly learn a lot about a producer by simply speaking on the phone or having a consultation session, which we recommend before you commit to any project with a studio. If a producer isn’t willing to spend some time with you in advance of a project, they likely won’t be as patient and easy to work with, and you deserve a great partner for your recording studio project! If you’re a more advanced artist who knows your way around a studio, look for a producer who has worked extensively in your genre and really “gets” your sound.
